Virtual sukkah, Jewpardy, and JPod who could ask for more?

BabaganewzFor those of you looking for great websites to use in the classroom with your SMART Boards while teaching Judaic studies, learning about Israel, studying the correct pronunciation of Hebrew words, or investigating Jewish customs and traditions we have put together a couple of sites for you and your class to try out!

If you are looking for an interactive site that will get the students up to the SMART Board checkout Babaganewz. This site comes complete with a section devoted to exploring Jewish holidays (you can even build your own virtual sukkah), a Hebrew word match (don’t forget to turn up your sound to practice your pronunciation), and even Holiday Jewpardy. To learn all about Israel, check out the Israel Central link and don’t forget to listen to the JPod—Babaganewz’s answer to the iPod. There is also a special section just for teachers.

If you and your class want to learn even more about Israel check out the Embassy for Israel’s Kids’ site. This fun and interactive site is dedicated to Israel’s history, symbols, and geography. Get on board and take a virtual tour of Israel with your class. Let’s face it, what’s better than learning through playing games?

3D Israel is a site that is geared towards tourism but the 3D virtual tours are awesome, especially when viewed on a SMART Board! The Flash 360 degree tours of attractions and sites like the Western Wall, the Dead Sea, and the Tower of David-Museum of the History of Jerusalem are all presented beautifully in full color and high resolution. Take your students to a multitude of places throughout Israel on an interactive, brilliantly vivid 3-D tour. What a way to view panoramas of Israeli cities, holy places, and attractions!
