I always challenged my students to find the most up-to-date sources when doing research. The last thing a teacher wants is for students to use old sources when newer information could be used. The solution is to attach a short bit of code to the end of a Google search’s URL. When you search for something, , if you insert a small string like “&as_qdr=y10†at the end of the web address, you will restrict that search to the last 10 years, and better yet, you will get the date that each search result was published. This way, your students will know how current their research is. This can be modified to any length of time by changing the number after the letter “y” in that string.

So enjoy your searching experience, let your students in on some of the tricks, and demonstrate some of these on your SMART Boards!
