TeqSmart and the News

The TeqSmart Blog comes to you today from Maryland, very near our nation’s capital. Our Electoral Map received an excellent response and we are happy to hear that teachers have enjoyed it so much. In that spirit, we wanted to point you to some SMART Notebook lessons related to other issues in the news.

The Stock Exchange: The Stock Market has been all over the news the last few days. This high school lesson by Joyce Smith teaches students about stocks and how to read stock reports.

Darfur: This SMART Notebook lesson for middle schoolers by Regina Kieran teaches students about the conflict in the Darfur region in Sudan.

The Branches of Government: This lesson by TeqSmart’s own Lindsay Angelo teaches elementary school students about the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.

Check them out and let us know what you think.

I fully expect to see this on the TV on Election night.

Terrific lesson on Darfur! The June 2008 Global Regents had a DBQ on genocide, and the info in this lesson would have been a great source for relevant outside information.

For another current events learning object, we created an interactive map of Eastern Europe for our online store: http://www.teqsmart.org/shop/
